How we teach
A place where little artists can grow
For our youngest artists, we create a nurturing, creative and supportive environment where they can make their big ideas visible to their world. Through our instructors' support and expertise, each student at Little Ashcan receives the attention necessary for them to become confident in their own creations.
Children are natural artist who communicate visually
Young students have a special way of viewing common things in uncommon ways, and we nurture and advance this magical ability. We teach our students how to analyze what they see and feel, and how to use visual language to describe their perceptions. Little ashcan artists will develop confidence in themselves and appreciation for the beauty and subtleties the world has to offer.
Develop Creative Ideas + Technical Skills
We encourage each student’s unique creativity and gently guide them in basic art-making techniques. We teach them how to make works of art and how to develop ideas, and we introduce them to many tactile materials, techniques, and art history.
Individually Tailored Curriculum
Our courses are structured so that each student gets plenty of one-on-one time with their instructors. Each student is able to focus on personal learning and our instructors work individually with students to develop projects that are in line with their interests and educational goals.
Little Ashcan Art Exhibit
At the end of each season, we hold a Little Ashcan Exhibit at Gallery Madison Park. This exhibition gives our Little Ashcan students a chance to showcase their works and to celebrate their creativity and talent with their family and friends.
